I don't think it will permantely damage the paint. We get over spray on our truck all the time. It leaves white spots and then we rinse our pump at the end of the day we spray down the truck and it comes right off.
Just did a job with the same problem. Couldn't get a hold of the home owner and I didn't want to take any chances, so I had my ground guy keep it wet when spraying anywhere close.

Go to your local Lowes/HD and get a roll of the lightweight plastic. It's great for covering cars and delicate plants when needed, it's also inexpensive. Even if just keeping them wet will do the trick, sometimes the customer seeing you take one extra step to protect what they have worked hard for will pay dividends in the long run.

Good call Talbot, and good to see you posting. We like the plastic as well, it can burn plants if left on too long, it bakes them. Just keep it wet and move it as soon as you can.
Get the box of plastic, you cut off what you need.
With the wind blowing, you will need to secure the plastic with tape or something else.
With cars as expensive as they are these days I would not risk upsetting someone as that can lead to bad publicity, neighbors talking, etc... So much easier to talk to the car owners first then discuss what you will do if they can't or will not move their car.
I have got overspray on my truck many times and just rinsed it off, no big deal.

Yes..that's the plastic I'm talking about! Everybody should have a box just in case!
Your mix will leave spots on tinted windows, rubber trim, and black plastic if not cleaned off and they are a pain in the a55 to get off....if you can.
