This is a great idea, I can not take credit for it but it is a great idea……..
"A buddy of mine here came up with the most unique way to divert the downspouts. He took a rubber glove, stretched it around the spout, cut a hole in a finger and stretched it over a garden hose and ran the hose to the street. You know what they say about necessity being the mother of invention? I think this nailed the concept."
Picked this up from another from. I thought that whoever has not heard of this would like to……
Thats hilarious! I have a hardware store that sells these plastic roll up gutter things and we zip tie them to a hose and basically do the same thing. everything just rolls up its pretty cool!

That is a great idea but you can buy the clear stuff by the roll for about $29 to $45 that has from 600' to about 1000'.
Not sure of the opening size for what they are selling, if you buy the roll of stuff, you will have to know the size of the rainguard stuff when flat.
The suppliers that sell the stuff by the roll sell it by the size of the "across measurement", not diameter (I found out the hard way). So, if you get the 2" for example, when you open it up, it really is about 1" I.D. (inside diameter), not 2" I.D.
That rainguard says the circumference is 14" so you you would have to know how wide it is across when it is laying flat to order the stuff by the roll.
One good thing is you can re-use it over and over then finally throw it away when it has holes in it or turns yellow or gets stiff or starts to crumble as it more than likely does not have any U.V. inhibitors.

The problem is highlighted in RED. If you want the environmental agencies to start regulating this industry like they do pressure washing then by all means divert the run off into the street. All you are asking for is trouble. No I am not saying that anyone here does this, as Mike said a buddy of his does.
I am in no way a fanatic tree hugger but I need to also be a steward of the environment so we can all stay in business. Do you want added fees for having to reclaim and dispose of runoff? How hard would that be without gutters? You think roof cleaning is a hard sell now, wait until the costs go up.
If he captured the runoff instead of letting it run into the street then I take back everything. The post does not specify what is happening so by the wording you have to assume that it is going into the storm drain.
lets add a little more to that post and make it eco friendly.....run the hose to the road....where you have a 55gal drum with a shop vac on top and there you go....all is good.
Reclaiming just the initial runoff from the application isn't really a big deal,....there isn't that much and about 2-3 five gallon buckets would be plenty sufficient in most of my jobs. The runoff is something to show the customer as well,,..really is dirty and makes them see what's happening with the cleaning.
I did a Church once and captured the runoff just because I wanted to be responsible with that amount of runoff. Problem was,...I run out of room to store it,....so we dumped it right back into the mix tank,......worked fine and saved me money. It's actually the Church on the main page on my website.
I side with pat on this one,I will continue to bag the gutters and play it safe.Brian Friel Of PA came up with a great idea for the captured runoff,he keeps it and substitutes it for water in future mixes.
I still dont have the need to bag downspouts. My run off is only when I rise. I just keep everything wetted down. Never a problem. I'm only up to the 2gpm delavan. If I was shooting more than that then I would prob have to bag???
