okay I have read a ton of info on the cedar cleaning site. I don't want to get into the 3 step process but I was wondering if there is a safe mixture to treat the moss and only the moss. Its not like normal moss its light and fuzzy, not thick at all. I am just looking for a way to kill it and have it fall off. should I use a low concentration of bleach or use a mixture of sodium percarbinate and oxolic acid. any thoughts? or even point me in the right direction.
Don't mix the SP and Oxalic,...which means they go different directions on the Ph scale. They will just cancel each other out,...oxalic is used to neutralize wood after cleaning with percarbonate. I like to use sodium hydroxide to kill moss on slate and asbestos,...but it may hurt the cedar and will also turn it black,...no big deal about the turning black,...neutralize with oxalic and it will snap right back. Depends on the integrity of the wood as to what can be used. Mostly people just need to learn to have moss taken care of way before it gets to be an eyesore. And then these are always the people who want instant results.
Probably the zinc or even copper sulfate will work. I know sodium bicarbonate will kill grass,..and have even heard of it for moss.

why don't you talk the H/O into cleaning the roof or siding which ever it is that you are referring to. Not sure why people don't do a complete cleaning Job instead of partial cleaning Jobs.
hey thanks for the answers, I was just wondering if there was a way to just kill the moss kinda like useing the love you no spray and go. I have had several people ask me if I could get rid of the moss on their cedar roofs, I can but a lot of the roofs are steep and I would rather just spray or treat the moss and leave. I mean there is a ton of cedar work in this area so I guess after I learn the ropes on composition I will most likely turn my attention to cedar roofs. Yep I am dreaming big
I purchased a product & mixed 1 lb to 1 gal of h2o. Sprayed it on & power washed it off. It came out beautifull. I then sprayed 2 coats of ready seal on it. I think I added a good 5 years of life to this cedar roof. Purchased roof cleaner from Georgia. Ran out near the end of the job, 7000sf & purchased a product locally to finish. Sodium Metasilicate, Anionic sirfactant, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Carbonate Peroxide. The product is called whiraway from Chemique in Moorestown, N.J.
Just wondering can you use the product "Wood Brightener" or "Stain Solver". I do not know if it can remove moss or not.
I think they are just h/o grade wont give you pro results. Any newbies using ox acid becareful it ican be dangerous chit.
