I thinking more along the lines of respiratory issues possibly allergies. But, if there aren't any that's fine. I was just curious.

What and/or where is UM? UM doesn't mean anything to someone that is looking for empirical research on health risks.

The main health risk is the chemicals you are using to get rid of it

It's simply not proper English to use an acronym without having first indicated the full name. UM could be the University of Montana, Montreal, Mexico, etc... you get the idea.

"Sick Building Syndrome" would be more for indoor air quality, If something is ON your roof then it would be considered outside and not effecting the air your breathing....

When it rains the spores get splashed onto your sidewalks, driveways, etc.

Once they start growing it is very easy to track the algae into your home where it will continue to grow on carpets and eventually get into your heating ducts.

Then you got a "sick building".

Absolutely true.  NJ Manufacturs Insurance Co. orders roof cleaning to homeowners in NJ.  Did one just this week.  It's a great day when roof cleaning is legitimized by insurance companies.  Looking forward to more work because of it.

Yes I noticed where insurance companies are telling home owners that they need to clean their roof before they renew their policy too.

The other day I was talking to the H/O and she said that the building inspector advised her not to clean the roof because it would damage it.

I will have to go and educate that good fellow.

Yes sir, you would think that they would be on top of their game, however maybe their trying to refer their friend the roofing contractor? but more than likely they are simply ignorant ( uneducated regarding the roof cleaning process)

A good example of the health risks of cleaning roofs is to visit the "other "site. The guy in charge just spent 5 days in CCU on a respirator and almost died due to lung damage from SH over the years. Admitted he very seldom wore a mask to protect his lungs. Chris T on here will also attest to the damage SH can cause to your lungs. Work safe and you can work long.
