Ok.....Hope I'm not gettinbg on your nerves yet,and 2 sorry for the dumb questions.I've been noticing a lot of houses around me don't have gutters on them. What do you do in this situation?I mean,do you just saturate the ground(plants) and continue doing so until you're done or what?I know ya'll said to bag the end of the downspouts, but if there's no downspouts the what?Does this make any sence at all? Thanks again for any info ahead of time

First thing is to water everything down real good, then go really slow, and watch the run off. The man on the ground will follow as you spray. watering off any run off immediatly.
You must work slowly,, watering plants/grass at least twice as much as you spray, maybe more.
You can use tarps too, but the run off will hit tarps, bounce everywhere. No substitute for a good ground man.

A good ("good" being the key word) ground man is irreplaceable. Another little trick is to use an adjustable sprinkler with a wide fan to keep continually watering the area(s) you are cleaning. When it's time to move, simply bring the sprinkler with you.

If its a one story home and has a lot of shrubs down below I use the following. Home depot or lowes sells plastic wide gutters like 10' long,I have 3 on my truck. They tuck nice and easy under the first shingle and I try to give a slight pitch toward one direction. I place one 5 gallon pail underneath to cath the run off { have 2 oe 3 of them there to replace as needed } It really works well a little extra work can save a big headache later

Ok this reply is for the King and I hope you don't mind I call you the king becuse I have been everywhere on the web and you keep popping up, your a hell of a gentleman and a scholar too. I only hope I can be so worthy as to get a reply. All kidding aside I write down every word you say because you obviously are one of the best in the biz.. So back to the basics here. I am runnig myself in circles here trying to find an organized approach to the right methods.
So using the apple sauce --gotta have the amonoyx lo... ok got that.. now prior to cleaning I want to spray down the bushes and shrubs and I assume the grass too right? SHould my ground guy have just a hose and a steady trigger finger or do I man him with an airless sprayer and super fine tip to keep things saturated with a fog? Or what about like some kind of spray that protects the plants, I guess the overspray would clean that off anyway. Am I thinking way too far into this and it isn't that much of an issue?
Sorry about all of the questions I just want to start things right here. I have been experimenting over the last year and about 6 months ago I found this forum and I want to do this the right way and be ready for the spring. Is there any step by step guide to an asphault roof cleaning?

BcRoofclean? If you don't mind me answering,I mean,I know I'm not Chris.Anyways, the one thing I've learned from them and reading is the more water the plants and all gets, the better. So in my opinion and may I be corrected if need be,but if you had a helper with a water sprayer working(on the ground) right along side of you (on the roof),I think you'll be fine and have no problems with the plants grass or anything else.

Thanks Steve. I have been really doing my homework and the bottom line is that the Shingle manufacturer's do not approve anything but the Apple Sauce and Cider and the like. So that I have down patt.
I just have to erase my mind and all of the research I have learned and put it in a box for now and get this system right. It can be a little frustrating at times but with help like we have here I think I'll be fine. I have seen and tried so much and I keep coming back to this forum and I am definitely staying and learning this the right way.

I do like the plastic gutter option...seems like that would work good. I'll have to look into that. How much do they run?

I was thinking about the gutter free homes too. The thought I had was picking up some 10' metal rain diverters. It may be called something in other regions. What I'm talking about is the 10' pieces of metal some homeowners have installed partially under a row of shingles and angled one way or the other to shed water away from a door coming out to a deck or front door if they don't want to pay for installed gutters on the run. They are bent in a 90 degree angle so its like an L laid down flat on a roof. Or you could buy a roll of metal coil and custom bend your own to certain lengths.

You could slide them gently under the first row of shingles and angle them to either side. (I like the idea of having a bucket below to catch the run off.)

I recall in florida this may be an issue. Due to hurricane codes I think the eves shingles need to be roof cemented down? Chris could probably answer this for us.

Up in MN not an issue.

Most of the houses here don't have rain gutters, most people here don't like cleaning them out all the time.

You use good products like Hang Tite from Lori at Pressure Washer Products, control your runoff by using smaller nozzles and git-r-done.

Great idea, need to add some plastic gutter sections to our shopping list.  You could even attach a downspout right into your bucket.  I used to use a piece of gutter to protect me from the drop edge while installing satellites on rainy days.
