They don't spend a lot of time on HERE so that won't work. They really are good people, just in a hurry to get where they want to be at someone elses expense.

Then I wouldn't worry too much about them. Either they have something to bring to the table or they don't. We will smell that out VERY quickly. A couple of hints into how we do things isn't going to make a difference to .001% of the population even if they find it. The point is, either you are making a contribution at this trade or you are not. If you are not then you are so far behind, you can only dream at making a long term living at it. There is so much to this business (just like any business) that you need to know about to succeed. And beyond that, you need to LOVE doing it and in the meantime, constantly remind yourself that there is ALWAYS something to learn that will make you better, more competitive, more efficient/effective. Not that you need to crush the competition, but doing the aforementioned things saves YOU time, money, hardship and wear-and-tear on your body. Let's face it, we are only here for so long, might as well make the best of it? That's what I TRY to do everyday.

"Do not hire this guy, he is not certified!!!!!

Which means he hasn't spent as much time as we have, researching about the roof cleaning industry.

I know it is illegal to use the RCIA logo with out being certified!!!

No need to worry brother. Those people lurk around every corner. Don't waste your energy worrying about them. They will be here today and gone tomorrow. Only those of us with something to share and learn from one another will last in the long run. They MAY make a quick buck here and there, but they WON'T stand the test of time. Only those that are worthy and PROVE themselves enter into the TRUE brotherhood of this trade.

The thought of pressureized water going up my siding makes me more nervous then I already am.
Ya know, WE think pressure washers are "cool", but as a roof cleaner primarily, we get asked to do driveways, now and then.
So, I put a pressure washer on one of our roof cleaning trucks.
This old guy, probably a bad azz, in his day, came running out of his house screaming at us one day, as we attempted to start cleaning his roof!
He was Italian, like me, and with the bad temper common to some Sicillians.
He actually had a shovel on his shoulder, and told me he would "funk me up" if we attempted to "use that thing" on his house

We had so many negative comments/questions about the pressure washer, we removed it!

Soft Wash, Soft Spray, Gentle Cleaning, there are the buzz words here in Florida.

But welcome to the RCIA Forum, you look like a true professional, gald to have you here !!!!

Yes Art, it is no "accident" either, the RCIA Forum is a powerful Internet tool, for those who use it correctly.
It places pretty highly in many roof cleaning searches, and provides work for many who post here regularly.
BTW, I used to SELL Siding, for Sears !
Yep, and I was Dam Good at it too.
I used to show up at leads, dressed like a siding Installer!
I would say "Hello, I am Chris from Sears Siding, I am here to take your order" LOL
You would be suprised at how many "Lay Downs" i got that way ?
If they said "We are not ready to buy, we are just getting estimates" I would tell them " I am not a salesman, just an installer/estimator, but I will gladly answer any siding questions you folks might have"
Words like Salesman, Bleach, Chlorine, MUST be dropped from our vocabulary.
If you can sell home improvements Art, you are 3 steps ahead of the curve.
Here at the RCIA Forum, we have roof cleaning down to a science.
The TRICK is to get the phone ringing, and then SELL the customers when they call!

I started pressure washing almost 14 years ago now when I was 16. At the time, the market was pristine.

After a year or 1.5 years contractors started dropping off what basically amounts to illegal immigrants and bidding jobs at 85 per house.

Then the damage they do moves even to over here....

It's a shame that the types of damage that untrained operators do moves even to over here.

Down low on a house, there's often no way to remove mud without a little pressure. And if you were my own brother, I'd tell you that a little pressure by an intelligent operator treated properly chemically first won't do a lick of harm and won't get up under the siding.

The same with a deck....people act like ALL decks must have very low pressure or it will raise the grain...this is just not true. Some decks will accept a very decent pressure with no damage to ligans. It all depends on going slow and wisely. Yes, it might look okay with very low pressure, but I guarantee mine will look better :D Conversely, there are some decks that cannot take hardly any pressure whatsoever. Same thing about going slowly.

I once quit a job for someone with a deck that had very soft wood. He told me he wanted high pressure with no striping. I told him that it's not possible. He told me he'd pay me for the time it took. I told him still not possible. He offered to pay me for what I'd done so far. I told him no charge. Next month (he was my neighbor) he rented a pressure washer, then came over and told me not possible... :D

Pressure used wisely or not...is your friend...except for on roofs :D

I have been installing and selling vinyl siding for close to 35 years. I agree, a little pressure won't harm the vinyl siding. Siding is a water shield, It is not water proof!

I tell you guys a quick story. Last year I was driving down the road. On the side of the road was a working Pressure washer in the garbage. That was the start of my pressure washing business. I par laid that pressure washer into $40 grand in 6 months time. This year I will be adding roof cleaning. Hopefully I will do well at it also. That's it! Thanks for your time Art

So is a roof, it shields water. it isn't waterproof if the flow of water is altered. If there is debris present to alter the flow it will leak sooner than later.

I agree keep the pressure washer away from siding ,same as the roof ,maybe only on some areas that may call for it,its the water getting behind it ,mold,mold and wood rot,some guys HO do it every year and their brutal
