I washed an insurance adjusters house last summer and he was telling me about some software they used to measure roofs. I wonder if this is what he was talking about...
I just landed this one for next week We gave him a sky quote in less than 2 hours like we promise than we drove over to check it out...I know the picture is bad, I will shoot better ones next week.
So how are you finding doing quotes with the satellite images. Is it worth it for you? Have you come across situations that would have caused your quote to be higher if you had done an on site quote?

I have not done to many as of yet and all I am doing is looking at the house from a free service "Bing Maps" it gives you a good picture so you can get an idea of what to expect.
My biggest concern with something like this is you remove yourself from the sale, you cannot build value or worth by emailing a quote, you might weed out a lot of non(never)buyers but you might loose alot of the on-the-fence'rs
Thats what I am thinking. No chance to show them Insurance Certificate. Explain the process of roof cleaning. Just talk to them and make them comfortable with you and your business.
I have used this several times before. And I have xactimate software. They all buy their photography from a company called pictometry. Paul is the guy to talk to if your interested. I used it for insurance estimating. I have samples if anyone wants to check it out. Its pretty cool and great veiws of the house like you were on the lawn taking it. Costs about 50 per house unless you are doing alot. I was doing a little research on it about a year ago and I really thought it was satellite pics and one guy even told me that a gov sat had been decommissioned and sold to the public and then later I found out that was all an outlandish lie and that this is all done with aerial photography. The views they give you at pictometry are basically invasion of privacy. Seriously though how is that legal when you can read the address of the house?

50 per house? 50 dollars or 50 cents.? if its 50 dollars that crazy.

Yes... you are correct and I do go out on sales and I understand the importance of all of that. I have been selling for a long time.
I am just trolling in the Great Lakes and I hooked and landed a good one last week with this process.
This is just an free extra tool I am using for the people who are curious, just don't have the time to meet, don't want to meet or the people just sitting on the fence looking at their dirty roof that needs cleaning.
But once I get the fence riders name and address I try to close the deal, either over the phone, over the internet or in person, whatever they want but without their name and address I have no deal to close....
Roof Cleaners have the upper hand, what choice do people have?
1. Live with embarrassing algae & moss infested roof. 2. Spend thousands of dollars to replace it. 3. Go with an inexpensive proven cleaning job?
If someone tells me no I offer to do a tear off and replace it. If they still say no, I smile and I peek up at their roof and walk away. It is their loss my roof is clean.

$50. It is a ton of money for a roof cleaner but for a roofer it isn't much at all. It saves you money from having to go out and measure. They include the eaves, the length of edge metal, gutters, ridge, sidewall.....everything. If you do a lot of them the price gets cheaper. They have an option for just pictures and a lot size for landscapers but I can't imagine they would ever go anywhere as low as even $10 for guys like us.

Thats crazy. If it was a big job id check it out in person
If it is a standard subdivision roof, it is no problem. But BIG Roof Cleaning Jobs will bite you in the Azz sometimes if you don't go look at them. Bing and Google have satellite imagery that can help you see roof cleaning jobs.
