This was a couple month back I put out 4 postcards in a wealthy neighborhood (I only saw 4 dirty roofs) I got a call. The woman told me her neighbor had referred her. I was completely baffled because I had never cleaned a roof in this neighborhood. But I went and gave the estimate and got the job. The day of the cleaning the woman told me which neighbor had referred her and I went over to have a chat. His roof was not dirty, and I know I didn't clean it so i asked him about it. He told me he had gotten my postcard (I must have put it on the wrong mailbox) and he told the neighbor I did awesome work "just so she'd get her roof cleaned and I wouldn't have to look at it anymore!" This guy was pretty funny and I wound up cleaning his driveway the same day. While I was cleaning smoke started billowing out of his garage which was half open. I rolled under the door into the garage and found his garbage can completely up in flames! I grabbed it and tried to run out of the garage but I couldn't get out with the can so i ran to the inside door in search of the automatic door button.. wound up closing it before I got it to open and finally got out! I sprayed the can down with my washer as the guy and his wife came running out. The can had been sitting next to a propane tank, gas cans and his car. In hindsight, running in was probably not wise. But I saved the house and I got a nice tip.
I cleaned one house, then I went and asked his neighbor if he wanted his house cleaned too, well the two of us didn't hit it off and words were exhanged so I told him to shove it, then afterwards realizing I shouldn't act that way, because I want to clean his neighbors too, so I put a hat on and disguised my self, then returned back to his house two minutes later pretending to be the business owner and apologizing on the behalf of my ignorant employee. LOL. and he gave me the job back.
He was a older guy Gary's age, and he later explained to me that he was just having a really bad day.

That is HILARIOUS! I don't know which part is funnier, the fact that you actually went back in diguise or that he didn't notice!

Something in here is really starting to smell like it belongs on a farm. (BS)
I got one!!! Was a couple years ago. A lady tried to cut me off. It was my lane LOL! She called the # on the side of the truck. Told me about the rude driving of that employee. I got some details from her and told her that this isnt the first time I've gotten a call on that guy and he was going to be terminated!!
I don't think he didn't recognize him, Clyde just used humor to break the ice and show humility to the home owner...
That is the way I saw the situation. Great example for us all...
Very good Jeromy, you must of had a simuliar experience to of picked up on that. Me and the home owner apologized to each explaining what a bad day we were having.
Well you really got me laughing. Nice stories! Let me share a funny story also. Try to watch this video! Very funny and amazing! The smartest dog in the world!
This one happen to me today. A customers calls and ask do you give free estimates(doesn't everyone)?I relied no they are a thousand dollars which is my standard answer to this question. This always gets the customer laughing and breaks the ice. But not today he told me I was F-ing crazy and hung up on me. I called him back and got his vm and left him a message. Which reminds me to call him again I'll let you know how it goes.

its 1,000 for the estimate, but you get a free roof cleaning, house wash, driveway cleaned, car washed, dog bathed and trimmed, and your trash hauled to the curb for life!!
