I have a few thoughts for everyone that posts on the forums.
Everyone wants their business to be found. That is part of the reason we post on these forums. I know that my posts get picked up by prospective customers from time to time and I want them to see how professional and well trained my business is.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE everyone try their best to make sure you are spelling things properly. There is a ton of butchering of the english language that goes on here. Nothing looks worse to a potential customer when they are reading your posts than seeing a bunch of different words spelled horribly wrong. It gives the perception that you are unprofessional. They make this judgement without even knowing anything about your business or the excellent work that you may do.
I'm not a very good speller. It was not one of my strong points in school, but I make sure that I check any word that I am unsure of before I make my post. I even go back and read my post after I make it to make sure that I haven't made spelling mistakes. If you look, I often edit my posts to correct spelling or add a word that I overlooked.
One of the ways I handle this is by using the google tool bar. If you start to type the word into the google tool bar search it will bring up the word as you type. You will see right away if you are spelling it wrong. This also works on Google's main site.
Another way you can handle this is by having a second window open that you can just type the word into any search engine and it will bring up the dictionary meaning of the word. It will also give you the correct spelling.
Nobody wants their business to be judged unfairly. This forum's credibility is also represented by the member's "professionalism". Don't let something simple like spelling hurt the credibility of the forum. Everyone uses this forum to help them get work. Be proud of what you are a part of!
I hope this doesn't offend anyone. That is not my intention. I'm just trying to help everyone make their business look as professional as possible.
Have a great holiday!
Brian

Excellent point Brian and an excellent post. I use the spell check ALL the time and I'm amazed at how many words I misspell. Hey,,, I just checked and I didn't have one word misspelled. LOL...

I agree with you guys about the horrible spelling on this site, I just thought it was the characteristic of being a roof cleaner. Next we can work on punctuations, sentence structure, and perhaps we can even expand our vocabuary?
One thing at a time guy's. It's not going to be easy.

What day is editing class? Hahahaha!
I bet in Chris's wildest imagination he would of never thought we would of touched on this spelling subject. I think we can surpass his expectations he had for us.

Hey Clyde, if the moderators had to correct all of the spelling, they would never be able to get any roof cleaning work done!
Seriously, it only take a few minutes of everyone's time to make sure they are not butchering the english language. Everyone will benefit. Trust me!

Brian. That was truely a good call on your part about the spelling. I applaud you for your effort to improve the image of you and me and all of our fellow roof cleaners.
