here is a shot of my first rig so far.  I tested my pump (5850), hoses, tank and nozzle out and i was pleased!  I see why it is called soft washing. I don't think i will be hurting any shingles.  It was good to test with water.  I had three connections that were not tight enough and teflon tape seemed to be a neccessity.  I have a combination of plastic and brass fittings.  I can see where quick connects will come in handy and a shut off valve on my tank.  I still need to wire my switch in.  I have my first batch of sh (15gal) and if it is above 40 and low wind within the next few days i will hit my roof.  I have got black streaks on top of dark shingles.  I appreciate any suggestions with the set up, thanks.

oh yeah, when my 5850 shuts off by itself - when my ball valve is closed - is that normal? Will i burn my pump if its on and i am not spraying?

the pump probably has a pressure switch if it does than this is normal and just fine
the one thing i would suggest doing is pulling from the top of the tank instead of the bulkhead this will save you problems later on bulkheads tend to leak you can only imagine the problems this could cause

get a piece of 3/4 inch pvc pipe and cut it to the length that is the same as the height of you tank put an elbow and hose barb on it cut a hole in the top of the tank and drop it down . there is lots of threads on this if you search just look for PULLING FROM THE TOP

 and plug that bulkhead

or you could just open the lid and drop in your feed line this way is free and works just as good 

and plug that bulkhead

now that i took a closer look i strongly suggest the open lid and drop in this way you can flush your line pump and reel because if you don't that reel will be no good very very fast not to mention the pump you must run 15 gallons of soap and water through your system rite after every use otherwise it wont last very long

hey Mike I suppose that ramp is a matter of preference. I like the clean, stream line look. keep in mind that your rig is exposed, people are looking at your stuff.

Billy,
You said that i need to flush out my intake hose, my pump and my 200' kuri hose after each use with 15 gal of soap and water. I guess i do that at the customers house. so where do i spray that 15 gal of soapy water with traces of sh in it? (the clean side of the roof? I don't want to rinse the love off) And what kind of soap? Dawn?

Mike your doing your roof first, so do an experiment and clean your roof when it's about 35 degrees, but first wait for the frost to burn off then let us know the out come ok.

I have the 5850 like yours.  I attached a couple of pictures.  1st one shows my fittings at the pump.  I have hose fittings so I can disconnect the input and hook up a water hose and flush the pump and output hose.  Now this works but is a bit messy when I disconnect the input line so I'm going to change how I do it.  I'm going to add a tee and  2 ball valves at the top of my tank where the output line comes out (2nd picture).  That way I can close off the tank and open ball valve with water hose hook up and flush pump and lines without removing fitting at the pump.  Once I get it changed over I'll post a picture for you.

Congrats! I bet your excited! Good luck as well. Still waiting here to build mine,$ and no calls yet.

I noticed that you have what we call here in Texas, "4 wheeler straps" to hold down your tank.

I strongly suggest you change those out and get you some metal straps from tank depot. The ones you have will be eaten by the love and a full tank flyng off your rig at 45 mph would not be good!

I use those straps like Mike on my 35 gallon tanks too. I like them because I can unstrap them in seconds for what ever reasons, But I will certainly keep an eye on them..

I use the canvas straps. I keep an extra set with me all the time and keep an eye on them. I change them out every year with new ones and have not had to replace one yet.

Those were the cheapest straps that were not bungee. I will check out the cost of those metal ones. I sure don't want that thing coming off the trailer. For right now i will have to take it easy until i make the money back that i spent on the rig. I like the idea of the shut off valve and T fitting. I don't want to be spilling sh all over myself.
