I was searching roof cleaning in my area on google and found this site listed in the top search results. This makes me absolutely sick. This guy is pressure washing roofs, you can see the pressure washer in the back of his truck in one of the pictures, not including the ones of him blasting away the granules with a gun. This kind of stuff makes me want to find his customers, tell them what he did, and make them make him replace their roof. What can we do to stop such horrible things as this. I'm suprised he didn't have a surface cleaner up there. Here is a link, look at this guy and his before and after photos. http://www.roof-restore.com/photos . Is there anyone in your area doing this?

You should stay away from harnesses as much as possible, at least I do. If it is something that you can not spray from a ladder or by walking it, you should rent a lift. Lifts are fairly cheap to rent, very very safe, you can add the cost in the job so its free, or add a little for your time and towing. It is a lot more professional using a lift over a harness, ohh yeah and IT'S SAFE!

I've got some comments about a few of the threads....
Here in Charleston, there is a large cleaning company that is a national franchise - on their coupons that get mailed out they have a picture of a guy "hydroblasting" a roof. That is a good marketing piece for me to use as I talk to prospective customers about no-pressure roof cleaning.
Wearing harnesses -- If I can trip and fall on the flat ground, there's a pretty good chance that it will eventually happen on a roof. I recently was on a 2 story apt complex that had a pretty flat roof - I was only blowing off debris and cleaning gutters but since I had to be at the edge of the roof much of the time, I wore a harness. It may have slowed me down a little, but I figure its better to be safe than sorry.
