I thought this was pretty clever Idea especially cleaning roofs alone I took my high pressure hose and my 5/8 chemical hose and straped them together with nylon ties.
I got on the roof and wet all the vegetation down then applied the mix then again rinsed the vegetaion down again. In other words I had everything at hand and the hoses never got tangled.
I have my hose reels mounted side by side so I just pull the two of them out together.
one requirement... you do have to have a large pressure washer or water hose. It's easy for me because my pressure washer pumps 10 gallons per minute. while standing up high I can stand near the edge of the roof and shoot down and soak the vegetation the whole lenght of the house in seconds.

Does that mean your pressure washer is running while not being used?
Cleaning roofs by yourself is no easy task. I got to hand it to you for going solo, but I would invest in some help. You could definetely do more roof in a day with help. How do you your pressure washer without being in bypass for to long? seems like that would be complicated.

yes my equipment goes into bypass right back into the water tank. I usually do have help but I'm winding it down for the season so I'm solo. and it's not like I have hundereds of roofs to do either....bummer.
however being solo I cleaned a large roof and washed the house in under 3 hours for 450.00 not bad.

Clyde,
I have to hand it to you for innovation> I thought I'd seen EVERYTHING!
Learn something new everyday. Bet that was a heavy bear to lug around for three hours though?
Kind of similar to holding 1/2" pressure washing hose and wand overhead for 3 hours?
Can you say arm cramps? I can only imagine, LOL
Very inventive! I give you a BIG "E" for the EFFORT

there was nothing hard about it at all. I liked the Idea because I could do a good job at keeping all the vegetation wet. we don't make enough money at this to be replacing shrubs and flower that we could possibly destroy by not keeping them wet.
I think the trick was to keep the two hose straped together for about 30 feet or so.
I would like to ask if anyone has used foaming equipment such as http://www.youtube.com/user/laffertyequipment#p/u/9/7uVvWplg7DU Now please don't get me wrong I know the current systems work but I love the idea of foam, apart from keeping the Love on the roof especially tile roofs I think the foam puts on a show for the customer and provides a WOW factor during the process and the marketting / advertising concepts are unlimited. I know what your thinking "Don't try and re-invent the wheel" but a marketting edge is a marketting edge. your thoughts? sort of like this http://www.rhinofoam.com/ I mainly have tile roofs in my area and keeping the chems on the roof and not on the roses would be a good thing I think
I would say the roof alone for $450.00 was a good price. Adding the house is an extra 200 - 300 dollars easy. How much would you have gotten to clean the house alone? A large roof? Don't sell the service cheap, be confident in what you are doing. Add up all your equipment cost, insurance fuel and wear and tear on yourself.........I would get no less then $650 for a small roof and house wash. But hey that's just me..........

what roof are you referring to I never even posted one?
Hey Clyde I used to wash alot houses down near Toms River and Brick. I've been pretty busy up North so I dont advertise down there so much anymore. There's alot of work down there. Good luck 2010!!
I love the idea but, I don't know a dang thing about pressure washing (yet). I gotta visit that pressure washing forum. Would those of you that offer pressure washing services suggest getting involved in it in conjuntion with roof cleaning? It seems like it would go hand and hand right?

Don, More than 50 % of my roof cleaning customers ask me about some sort of house washing or concrete cleaning. There are probably more that I could upsell, but I don't always take my pressure washer with me. As you know, my truck is very crowded with roof cleaning stuff. It is a pain for me to take the extra stuff for house washing.
It is well worth the investment. If you do not offer it, the possibility exists that they choose another company to clean their roof because they can offer both services.

Back when I first started, I simply took a Large diameter water hose up on the roof with me. It is NOT as good as a dedicated ground man, but if you really take your time, you can keep dead plants to a minimum this way. We all had to start somewhere. But we here at RCIA urge you to be a roof cleaning Company, not just a guy who cleans roofs. It is not too difficult to find a ground man. A person on disability who can still water plants is a good choice, or I used to find people at AA Meetings. Hey, at least most were sober! Lots of people out of work right now. I used to set all my roofs I dug up for two days a week, and used my groundsperson then.
Good Idea BTW Clyde with the pressure washer at 10 gpm used to rinse.
David from Reef Property Services uses his machine to rinse too.
I clean roofs Clyde, a walkable ranch just the front I get atleast 4oo dollars. I just want to let you know if you are pricing to low...it will be hard to charge more in the future. You will get a job from a reccomondation and they will assume it will be for the same amount as their friend if not less because the house is smaller. Start at $400.00 for the roof....then add in the home.

In my 16 years of experience, I have discovered that the foaming is most valuable for gentle chemicals with high surfactant content for automotive finishes. It proves much less efficient and less effective for most other applications, and harsh chemicals including SH I think are difficult to get to foam like you are used to seeing.

So your unloader/relief valve is running the whole time while the other hose is running???
