as the winter is approaching in the Northeast I still want to work. on a winter day the sun is out and no wind what is the coolest temperature you could clean black streaks of asphalt shingles. 40 degrees, and do you feel that customers would be willing to have this done during the winter? I would appreciate your thought thank you.

40 degrees, sunny and calm is doable. No sun and some wind makes for a miserable b**ch of a day, but I guess it depends on how hungry you are. Boost chem concentrations and dress warmly :)

Typically the public will dictate how long you can clean into the cooler months.
Usually when the phone stops ringing the temperature is then to cool for roof cleaning.
With that being said, fortunately, roof cleaning is a fairly quick job and those few hours in the afternoon is all you need,...with a little Sun. Yea, 40 is doable,...especially when the work is running out and you need to squeeze everything out to prepare for Winter.
Knock on some doors and say "have you seen all that unsightly mold on your roof that is destroying your shingles?". That will shock the hell out of them, Then say" I just got done with a big job, but I have enough material left over to save your roof. Its going to go to waste if I don't use it so I'm willing to give you a GREAT DEAL. Are you interested?". If you can't make some money, then move on to the next one. But what do I know, I'm only in this for charity, I hate making money.

Winter is a bummer for roof cleaning but I usually will go out and do them if it the sun is out and around 40 deg. If it is cloudy and windy at 40 deg I don't usually bother with trying. I usually do the same though for hot water since I have a heated system in my truck. Good luck all.
my main business is pressure washing I wash houses, decks, etc. No one calls to have cleaning done after november. I am going to add roof cleaning to by business I am just hoping that customers will be willing to clean roofs on a 40 degree day during December through March. I have to work this winter I cant afford taking off the entire winter, and it makes no sense to spend all your saving either. My question is do people have their roofs cleaned during the Winter? or do they have the mindset that I will just wait till spring?
Personally speaking my slowest month was usually Feb, each year until I started getting more commercial work, like property management company's, apartments, etc. I try and get those setup for late Jan thru 1st of March. Those type of jobs help get me thru until spring creeps back up. Having a heated machine helps with the other side of pressure washing but I know this is all about roof cleaning so I do that much as possible and of course weather permitting.
I assume that those that live in the colder climates shuts down during the winter? what month do you quit cleaning roofs do to cold weather?
I have not got much response regarding this question, the winter is approaching faster and faster. you folks that live in the colder climates will you please give me some insight about working on nice days during the winter or do you just close shop or perhaps customers dont even think of calling? I know they certainly dont call to have pressure washing done so Im assuming they wont call about roof cleaning either, however I hope I'm wrong.
