Hey guys,

I was wondering since I live in Louisville, KY the winters here can sometimes get fairly cold.  I know a lot of you guys live down south where climate is not an issue, but for all of you who have to deal with winter months approaching I wanted to ask if you still clean roofs during the winter season?  If so is there a certain temperature that you shouldn't work in because the love doesn't work as well?  Just wondering since I am just starting my business and winter is approaching.  I would like to work during the winter months, but didn't know if the chemicals would react the same in cold weather as they do in warm weather.  Thanks guys!

I won't schedule a roof if the temp. is under 50 degrees.  I like to see it 60 and above.

Well Mike I do not go below 45 deg, and that just depends. If it is cloudy day and windy and 45 deg outside no roof cleaning for me. If its sunny out, clear skies and 45 deg I will clean roofs all day long just because it will be a little hotter on the roof with the sun directly on it. In time you will get a feel for it also.

Related to seasonal work: do you find that your business drops off (significantly, at all?) during the winter months? As a newb roof cleaning student, I've been wondering when's the busiest months and when's the slowest months during the year?

September/ October is actually still pretty busy with me. Accuwash operates from March1-Dec.20
In December in MD we usually still have plenty of warm days for house washing(not every day though), combine that with some gutter clean-outs and other winter maintenance contracts built over a few years and you will do good.

Here in NY the weather this week is hitting a high of 70+ and were still going strong. But I know the days are limited. I'm thinking mid November will be or cut off. I'm also a commercial contractor doing mainly inside work so for me it will be just a relaxing time.

I don't go under fifty degrees and also prefer at least sixty. Also second week of November pretty much winterize and pack it in.
