I had a question for you experts regarding bagging gutters. I noticed in some of the pictures you all posted you all had garbage bags tied to the gutter spouts. Is this to catch the chemicals as they drain through the gutter so they do not get on the lawn and landscaping? If so, then if the average job requires 40 gallons of solution then do you have 40 gallons full of used chemicals in garbage bags after you have finished??? If so then what do you do with all that used chemical solution??? Any help is appreciated! Thanks you all! I greatly appreciate it!

Alot of guys will bag the gutters to avoid the LOVE hitting the landscape and such. You will end up with alot less than what you put on the roof, however.
Many dispose of it or reuse it quickly on another job.

The last job I did required about 35 gallons of mix and I had 10 downspouts to bag. When I completed the job, I had less than 5 combined gallons of runoff in my bags.
Sometimes I reuse the runoff if it is pretty clean, but I usually count it as water because it has lost so much of it's potency after it has cleaned the roof.

Try that on a Tile Roof...I've had to empty bags in the middle of a job and refilled them. Not on all but some. Shingle Roofs seem to have almost no runnoff in the bags. Unless of course your talking about a reall steep roof
I know that Brian Freil has a little filtering system in order to reclaim some of the run-off but, I wonder if someone could post a link as to where to purchase the filters and/or post some pictures of your set-up??
Sup Brian?

I have been thinking about an Idea using a geo textile sock filled with activated carbon and letting the water filter through it to remove the chlorine, once the chlorine is filtered out the water can run onto the grass with little harm. Activated carbon removes chlorine from water it is used in drinking water filters and fish tanks etc to purify the water, available from aquarium shops. don't know it it will work but see no reason why it would not. It's just a thought. Where I am we have strict regulations about a lot of stuff, no chemicals, dirt, moss mould can enter stormwater drains, big fines apply if they see it happening so I have been thinking about ways to do it all.
