Here is an add I have in a local weekly paper and so far the return is great. 100% close on $1700 in work at a cost of $30 for 2 weeks. So far getting one reply per week. 1st one was the metal roof that I did and then a gutter cleaning and today a roof, gutter and deck. This is a great return on investment. I also have 2 others pending from referals on these ads that I will know the final on Monday if I get to do both of those.
That's great Pat. I've never tried newspaper advertising because I've never really heard of people having great success with it. I'll look into what my local newspaper charges to run an ad and if it's cheap enough I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
For years and I do mean years I have been in 2 Local penny saver type papers that come out weekly. Up until about 8-9 months ago I was still getting calls and then they just about stopped. The ones I was getting were all looking for the cheapest Roof Cleaning and or Pressure Washing prices. I decided to drop both of them at a savings of $139.00 per week. I had noticed that all of the trsaffic I was getting was from my web sites and from repeats and referals. I don't think I will ever go back to the penny saver mags again. Most people now search the internet to find services so I'm focusing on that for advertising.
I have actually got a HUGE turn-around from small local papers. I live in a old "community" type of city where people like to use small, local business. A couple other city papers I tried up north about 10-15 miles away from me and I got nothing. Funny how that works. Hope it keeps up for ya Pat.
That might be something I should investigate. I have advertised in 3 Pennysavers over here religiously for the past 18 years. Now you've got me thinking. Could save $135.00 a week.
Funniest thing happened today with this add. I got a call from the owner of a traveling carnival. I am cleaning 8 rides and 4 trailers tomorrow. How is that for a call out of the blue?
To me it all depends on the demographics. A lot of old people read the newspaper, so if theyre are a lot of them then you should get good responses. Younger people, however, most likely will use the internet.
