COME ON DOWNNNN!!! Ok guys winner get bragging rights, THE MAN!!! i did this roof a few days ago. Details: no gutters, i had to cut some tree branches off the roof. i used home owner chain saw (10 min). had to tarp every thing below .water was free.i used alot of water.had a deck in back 20/20 . this roof is 20+ years old. be careful, look closely.it had 2 different algaes on it.the home owner could not remember what color it was. Guess how much love it took and how much the overall job cost me. i will post what i had in it in 3 days , good luck!!!
I don't know where you live which would give me a better idea of what it costs you for love. mine just went down to .92 cents per gal. I know guys up north who pay tons more than that.
Ok I'll go with 18gals of mix...Not a steep Shingle Roof and kinda small.
I'll big time go out on a limb here and say it cost you $ 12.00 in materials. Final answer!!!
I will say an easy 40 gal of love , no gutters, I would say 2 hrs , any more than that something is wrong.. i wish i was getting sh and tsp at that price Im paying 2.66 for sh and 2.33 lb for tsp no good ...
nice job on that roof looks Great

I am going to add the price of fuel and a helper @ $10 per hr and say it cost $35 on top of the $35 these guys are guessing. So $70 on a $400 to $450 roof ??
How about your insurance, maintenece and misc. items like trash bags, divided by the amount of work you do in a year...??? add $10? or so
Guessing approx. 1200 sq. ft. / time to clean saw dust/ tarp/ setup/ no helper/etc./ 2hrs. 20 min. from start to finish. 27.00 for 30 gal. LOVE. Great looking job !!
when calculating commissions to salespeople for roof jobs we take the consumption of gallons X $2.50 , and that is the "cost" in materials. EX. 40gal @ $2.5 = $100.00 That covers marketing, insurance, gas, etc. That may seem high, but we get more $$ up here in Northern VA. $500-750 / roof

All right guys, I will let the cat out of the bag.this job was a slow going job. the H/O reminded me several times he had 10 year old Shrubs and under no circumstances they were to be killed!! he watched me like a hawk. i had a water boy run water all day. the roof was in bad shape. i had to hit it 2 times. no rinse ,my batches were 40gal batches . my mix was 15sh,25water, 7tsp,64ipa,56dawn.my water boy made $75 bones. my mix cost me .91 cents to make, overhead was around 15%.total 175.00 i underestimated this roof guys. at first i was not going to post this because i was a little embarassed.but on the other hand i wanted to show other green horns like myself not to cut your self short and pay attention to details.
Looks like MR. T is the winner. congratulations B.A ,YOUR THE MAN !!!! I Will post another one next week. keep your eyes open for THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!! and good luck...

Your question that started the post made it sound like how much chemical you used and how much you spend on the mix thats why must of us answered with gals. and cost of the love, its hard to see where you used 80 gals on that small roof , was the SH weak ? or maybe you should have let it dwell a little longer ? overall it was a fun post LOL

"i would like to thank my mom.....and Dad" J/K That was fun. I thought you were talking about straight chem cost....I was just breaking down our cost. i do have a couple of questions though, if you don't mind my asking....how much did you charge? And, have you ever tried rinsing after 1st application, especially on the "Shasta White"?

sorry about the confusion guys, next time i will be more Precise . i have another roof Monday i will try to post it. it has every thing, lots of MOSS, Algae ,Lichen the roof is 25 TO 30 Years old .i Will be going at it with BOTH Barrels!!!
OK to answer BA questions :the job was $350.00 the reason i did not rinse is there were NO GUTTERS. i am finding out that it is risky business rinsing with out gutters.after the first coat i had some spotS were i did'ent get good penetration. i also am finding out that you can tell in 15 to 20 min were you missed with the love ..BLACK SPOTS will Apier.also were the algae is harvest.in this case it was easier to mix enough batch than mix 20 gal of tough up So i NUKED IT AGAIN, it was a SURE THING...
