3. A PAID MEMBERSHIP ONLY forum with a website to educate the consumer and have the forum be SECONDARY to keep MEMBERS only -trained in new techniques and tools?
Lets all talk about your individual feeling on the direction the board is going in now and where you would like like to go?
All input is welcome, both the good, the bad and the UGLY
I like the 3rd option. I feel if we have a paid membership to share new and old trade tips, techniques and equipment set ups there will be less fly by nighters and more serious guys and girls that want to start a successful non pressure roof cleaning business.
We can keep a portion for customers to learn the information they need and to also get references of a contractor in thier area. They will also be able to see before and after pictures of the contractor they decide to go with.
I like option 3 also. Take a look at what they do at the UMACC. They have a forum with a members only section and a web site to inform customers. Very nice setup.
I believe that a national association or guild would be in the best interest of the members. A unified group sharing experences both good and bad along with organized training conferences would assist in the growth and acceptance of this profession. A recognized association would be able to offer items like insurance and equipment at reduced rates.

Dave, I also believe an Association would be in the best interest of the members, But..... I also believe option 3 is in the best interest of the members. I think if the RCIA became an association, there is no reason there could not be the Paid forum (option 3). This would serve as a place for customers to come to become educated on the needs of having their roof cleaned, the proper procedures, and find a certified RCIA member in good standing, that can service their needs. It will also serve as a closed forum for all of the members to share information with each other and grow their business.
