That is GREAT! I'm not ready yet for the FatBoy. I have enough trouble keeping up with the 5850 and a 40 nozzle with 3/4" hose. Gotta be quick on the shutoff.
I used the fatboy but the life of it was short, I still have it and plan on switching the relay switch to a starter relay switch for my other trailer but I now use the yamada air diaphram pump and I am very happy with it.
The fatboy can pump though I do agree on that one.
I can tell you that the fayboy will be a big difference for your power and volume of spraying, not trying to scare you just shared my story of what happened. That does not mean it would be the same for you, and I plan on replacing the soleniod on mine and putting in the trailer but I already have the air set up in my box truck.

You guys are starting to scare me a little with the fatboy tales. I think for this summer I'll stay with 5850 and maybe next year try the fatboy.
We have cleaned hundreds, maybe thousands of roofs. I have always used the 5850, but the FatBoy even scared me! It's like a fast car: It only seems super fast the first couple of minutes, then you get used to it. After about 5-10 minutes, I noticed that I was almost half done with the entire roof! For the rookie roof cleaners, I would recommend staying with the 5850 for awhile, until you get about 100-200 roofs under your belt.

I agree with this. Just using a #40 nozzle and a 5850 takes some practice now add 1 or 2 GPM more to this and you will get alot of run off. As long as the 5850 does the job I will stick with it....
I definitly had alot of run off at first, but got used to it over time with my 6gpm aod. I think it actually saves me love now to have more flow under my control.
Which one the 5850 or the fat boy will spray farther. Just trying to figure out which will get the job done on those steep big jobs that have to be done from the ladder.

And just one more thing. Can the flow rate be controlled at all? Is there a pressure regulator on the pump or can a ball valve for a nozzle help control that?
You get used to the high-flow. I've been using'em for awhile now and love it. It's no different than flatwork... more flow = done faster. That's all.
I don't find myself wasting "cleaning agent" like I used to at first and I like the fact that I can shoot 30 - 40' without having to get up on a roof in certain dangerous spots.
I plan on switching to air eventually - but not for just the obvious reasons. The wheels are-a-turnin'
There's no "right" or "wrong" way you can go with these pumps - it's personal preference. Think I'd prob just start with the 5850 if I had to start over again though.
By saying you are getting the FatBoy 1/2" setup, does that mean that you are getting 1/2" hose? 1/2" hose with the FatBoy is a mistake. There is a thread on FatBoy setup. If you haven't read it I would suggest you do.
I have the 5850 and it would not run properly using 200 feet of 1/2" hose. I went to 5/8" and the pump worked much better.
Hello new guy here from Texas. I have about 19 to 23 hours worth of reading on this site. I curantly do soda blasting, work has been kind of slow so I want to get into roof cleaning. I use to do pressure washing a few years ago I still have a good pressure washer but I think I need to get a heater for hot water. I just finished building my trailer. I still have my 150 gal. tank from a few years ago and am about to mount it to my trailer. I know that 150 gal. is kind of small but I also have two 55 gal. drums that I can use. I plan on calling Lori in a few days and geting the fat boy along with a back up pump. I heard some of you like the 3/4 hose I just wanted to know is that i.d. or o.d. I have alot of air hose that I can use I have more than two hundred ft. of both 1/2 i.d. or 3/4 i.d. either one I can put the right fitings. What is the name brand of the red hose I see in a lot of pics. Any info would be a big help thanks.
