Hey guys not to cause a problem but I am already a registered user on here. I am signing in as a new user from another location. That's right I registered and I can view any information. Nothing has changed, anyone can still sign up and get it all for nothing..........It's just not smart.............

Before anyone could see the Forum w/o registering. Now - you have to register. The ONLY other way is to CHARGE admission ?
I don't see the number of members climbing dramatically. roughly 300 in the US. Maybe moderators see differently. The thing is they have to put in an effort now to read the posts. I agree this should move to a paid membership but not until all items are worked out.
If you want to be taken seriously and be recognized by ARMA then this is going to have to be structured in such a way that it is a governing body autonomous from each individual even though they may run the group. Their decisions must be what is best for the group as a whole and not the individual. (unlike our politicians but that is another day and forum)
The group is in it's infancy and has not even gone through puberty. Give it some time and things will come around. I expect that you will see a lot of changes that we are not even aware of yet by the end of 2009 and maybe even this summer.

Well I got a phone call the other day from a guy in another state asking me for information on roof cleaning.I guess he figured since I was in NY I would tell him, but I didnt call him back. Why would I call him? One he can just get it all here for nothing. Two he becomes someone else on here who's legit competition............I think if you sign up a donation of a decent sum { 50 or 100 } before they get on.
What if a breif sample of the site was shown before they register and if they feel its what thier looking for then there could be a 25-50$ donation to register, instead of a free ride ,i mean for that price its still a free ride. this is just an idea for the guys that started this forum, my two cents
Except change or be ran over by it at least thats what I have said to myself for many years now. It's just a start, and now at least we have them registered instead of just lurking anonymously. We got it for free so can others??? That seems ok. Whats not ok is people like roof-a-cide and roofshampoo using this blog to build up smarter arguments against our processes.....of course they can fake a name and register but, patience we will weed em out over time. This forum is still so young and has lots of potential.
PS: IF any of you other types of cleaners are reading this and have faked your way in than why don't you stop voiding peoples warrentys and lying to your customers. It is way easier to just do it the proper way and be honest. Give it a shot you might even like honest business. When we used to low pressure wash roofs with oxy clean type crap, we always told our customers that we were shortening the life of there roof to some degree and that they should use a treatment after cleaning such as wet&forget. They still hired us...and we were being honest.
I don't know how everyone is thinking about how a paid or closed forum will help. To me all we are doing is keeping out the customer that is not going to put in the effort to set up a membership. Now after going paid they will probably not join at all.
With that said I don't believe that RCIA was developed to protect you or a territory for you. Anyone is going to be able to join even after we are a paid forum/membership.
This is the most concentration for roof cleaning information in one place but all the information is out there. Hell if you even use the 20% mix recommended by ARMA or the MFGs you are going to get results.
You are always going to have hacks out there that will undercut you. I for one am going to take the idea and go with flat rate pricing and post it. This way all I have to do is argue about procedures and educate about warranties. No haggling over pricing. It is what it is.
The point of it being closed is to get a name from anyone seeing the info as well to keep customers out of certain parts of the forum. They can still see the certified by state pages and the picture pages. I actually sent a customer here the other day while on the phone with her. I got on without logging in to see what she could see and we both looked at my befor and after pictures together. She was so impressed to see that there was an association and ARMA info that she sold my service for me to 2 of her neighbors for a discount on her own service. We offered all three the same price at a $50 discount each and have them all scheduled for Friday 5/1/09. Now I can talk about that kind of stuff here without fear she might be offended for talking about it, as she will never sign up, customers have no reason to see it all.

What i feel is if your sincere and want to learn a few bucks to help pay for the operation of this site ,like the logo etc. is not asking to much . I don't think anyone is trying to stop new members from joining because it maybe competition in thier area . Getting some donation up front is better then waiting and maybe never getting anything from the loser. some people come on here with out reading and thier calling some of the veteran cleaners with bull sh-t questions instead of reading! my two cents
Can anything be done about a "member" that advertises that he is member of the RCIA but does not use our method of roof cleaning? There was a "member on here today that uses roof reviver and a power washer.

We WILL be having a serious discussion at the TAMPA Roundtable AC Lockyer of Mallard Systems has some great Idea's - and so do some others. Dave and I will be looking and listening to all of them.
This is ONLY my personal opinion Guys - and i speak ONLY for myself here.
But I am leaning towards a CLOSED and PAID Forum.
And when I sat Closed I MEAN Closed .
It will cost MONEY to see our Cards IF I have MY way.
There is MUCH more I could teach everyone, and I KNOW I speak for Dave Mike Jeff AC and several other "rank and file" RCIA Members as well. But we are reluctant to lay bare our roof cleaning pearls.
MUCH will be discussed in Tampa at the Roundtable
From THAT discussion - ideas will be brought forth to our Members.
And more discussion will follow.
YOU guys are IN on the ground floor of something that may be BIGGER then we know ?
