Targeting Real Estate Agents for business
Permalink

My main source of business over the last 6 years has been in foundation waterproofing & crack repair.  In the old days when the housing market was booming it was tough to have a person who was selling thier home repair a crack in the foundation because the house was still going to sell at the asking price (or higher) & sell quickly.  But in todays buyers market I am constantly getting calls from realtors & sellers to have cracks in the basement foundation repaired so they can sell the house.

See in the old days the market was so hot people could sell a home with a crack in the foundation even if it was active (water come out of it).  NOT NOW, the buyers hold all the cards and won't touch a home with a crack in the foundation without it being repaired and accompanied by a warranty.

Why am I telling you all this & what does it have to to with roof cleaning?  Well, I plan on targeting realtors for my roof cleaning services just as I do for my crack repair.  Keep in mind agents are suffering and need to sell homes and they need our services for curb appeal & to get a good price (commission sales makes for good business when you are in the service industry).

My plan of action is & has been to drop off business cards & brochures in real estate offices, speak with the agents, drop cards off at homes for sale, attend open houses anything that puts me in front of the agent (and sellers).  All of these things can be done with a small amount of time invested.  I also have joined a website for real estate agents called Active Rain www.activerain.com which is a hub for real estate agents nationwide and related services.

This is an easy market to tap into and once you have your foot in the door you will get referrals and calls.

I hope this helps.

Chris

We plan to cover roof cleaning marketing at the RCIA Tampa Roundtable !
But as far as Realtors go - Yes - They are pretty easily accessable.
Your GOAL is to buy them all lunch and speak in front of the whole office !
IMHO they are all important.
But the property managers most so.
They handle the rentals.
Many rentals are in deed restricted communitys and HAVE to get the roofs cleaned.
Make GOOD friends with the Property Managers  biggrin

Realtors are great for our services, I've been using them for about 5 years.

In my area realtors have quarterly meetings, I will be speaking at two meetings in two different counties . These people need speakers . Ask a realtor when they meet and offer to show them how they can make more money by using your company.

Be careful of the ones looking to make a buck off you, you are trying to help them. I have been going around and everyone is glad to see this happening but at one place they charge you to put out fliers and it is not even a high traffic area like the lobby. Others let me put fliers there free as long as I have a display holder. Going to a meeting with about 50 agents in a couple of weeks. Very busy office.

I am going to work with everyone that works with me but I think I will send most of my referrals here as they are the busiest and they will bring me the most work. Only fair.

Here are a couple of things I am going to point out to them

1. As a sellers agent you need the curb appeal to be the best it can be. We provide non pressure roof cleaning, gutter cleaning and house washing. All of these work to increase the curb appeal of the home. Not only that, our 3 year streak free guarantee is transferable to the new homeowner.

2. As the buyers agent you can require that these services be performed before closing. Then the buyer gets the benefit of the 3 year guarantee.

Many ways to pitch it to them.

Then I will pull out this little certificate... I go to Office Depot and get gold embossed stickers to put on the certificate. Makes it look good.

Give people the warm and fuzzy feeling. I did this on a cabling job and that is  what sold it for me. Something they can show the new home buyer.

One more thing I forgot to add was the certificate number. 301208DT150

301208 = 30th day of December 2008
DT= Street Initials Dale Terrace
150 = The house number.

Can't use it on another house
