lol, a degreaser will work as well as any simple green or other crack pot solution. We actually tried some degreaser 4 years ago when we were clueless and it was the powerwasher doing the work the soap wasn't really doing much at all but making the roof slippery. Hard to beleive, do you really think they beleive that the asphalt is "bleeding" ?? You would think, if they washed a roof before they would notice the asphalt was in tact ? Maybe the "asphalt bleeds" after they leave from the strength of their degreaser, lol.

Using a degreaser on your roof will melt or soften the asphalt, an oil base product, and will cause the "gravel" to dislodge so that the power washer can do it's job and blow them off. The bleeding will come from you wallet when you have a roof that needs replaced prematurly.

The sad thing is,...this contractor is telling the truth as HE sees it. Businesses providing roof cleaning or whatever really should do the research on the issue to be able to provide acceptable services to their customers. It's not like it's a big secret or a mystery,..and it only takes about 1 minute of internet searching to understand what's going on "up there"

This job will consist of about 4 hours of labor and we will need to use top level degreaser to remove the stains which are common. Rain is causing the roof shingles to bleed.
Going stirctly by the picture, the price for the front of the house will run about $590.00.
We do however have technicians in Islip this weekend therefore, if you decide to get this done this weekend we can take off 15% off the price giving you a total of $500.00 even. The price after this weekend will then remain at $590

The stains on your roof are from mold and mildew and are eating up the gravel making the roof bleed alphalt.
This is a common problem.
If you have your roof cleaned and wash away the mildew, the stains will disappear.
The longer you have the mold and mildew without removing it, it will eat away the gravel on the shingels. That is why they are bleeding right now. This is why the stains are occuring. Our technicians will determine how severe the stains are. If they can bew removed, we can defenatly resolve this issue for you, but it's hard to tell from a picture.

Yes. And the way this is the following, we will be using a powerwasher with a 45 degree angle tip to wash the roof gently. And yes it will be 2 men working off a ladder not on your roof.

Seriously, Tell she and her crew need to register and become a Roof Cleaning Institute member and wise up for liability reasons and learn and grow

Who Knows but by helping them get on the RIGHT path they may become your best, most helpful referring competitor, especially if you land a huge job.

The best and most helpful contractor is the one that lends a helping when his competition needs it and by so doing becomes a friend to the industry and is respected by his local peers.

How about that for COMPETITIVE bidding?

Obvious Question: Who won the bid? confuse I think I know the answer.

Guys we all have to know BOTH thy customer and thy LOCAL competitor.

To stay competitive and THRIVE we need to do our "DUE DILIGENCE"

To win our bids we must know and stay one sterp ahead of our competitor, unless you find a amicable way to work WITH THEM?

Aboslutely disgusting. At first, I just shook my head, but then it sank in: These idiots are taking away from your, mine, our livelihood. They are derailing an industry that we at the RCIA work so hard to establish an acceptance of respect for. These people need to be informed of the stupidity that they are spewing.

The thing is I push the " Soft Washing " to customers the " No power washing " I need these guys out there.........

This guy uses a hydroxide base w/ a pitch witch. So what he bid for 21k will take him 2 weeks longer than it would me.

After long consideration. I have decided to do the job for the $24k for a few of reasons.

1. We had not given any kind of discount for a giant roof (the price should have been around $33k for the size of the roof.)
2. In spite of the other company. I just dont want them to get the job.
3. We are getting 2 complexes totaling just under $50k. So it makes it a little more worth it.

They have been in business for 6 years and they are going strong. They have consistantly under bid us by 50% since we started. They advertise .15c per square foot, but usually end up charging around .07-.10c

I honestly can't believe that anyone is still using hydroxide to clean roofs. Hypo works on contact, for the most part and you can walk away and be mostly done.

The reason I think some guys are still using it is; comes in granular and mixes very easy and is waaaaay cheaper than hypo if you don't consider effectiveness.

I think that is also why there are products made from percarbonate also,...granular and seemingly more cost effective.

Actually if these guys using these products want to really save money just do away with those products altogether. I think 1,000 PSI will remove the black streaking on it's own. Oh, and also alot of granules.

They buy from renew Ace cleaning. It is a liquid and super expensive and expensive to ship.

I think the reason they still use it is because telling a customer "We dont use bleach" sounds good to an uninformed customer, which most are.

LOL, Jeff you are correct 1k psi will clean it soap or no soap but...... If it's white they will leave a "shadow" as we used to call it. As well they are feeding it, too grow back faster if it isn't killed/disenfected.
