I am THINKING about "Closing" the Forum so ONLY people who REGISTER can see the posts ? Now that we are a PAID Forum - we get charged for ALL clicks. The Admin people see all the LURKERS we have on here. They are called "guests" SOMETIMES - we have more guests on here then registered members !!! These people add NOTHING to our knowledge base. They are ONLY here to TAKE our knowledge and RUN. Giving us Nothing but a Forum Bill in return
I think it is a great idea. Some things said in here should not be known to the public. Some things like pricing, cost of supplies and products used should be kept to those in this line of work or looking to start up. Some customers may " google " after your estimate, read some things on here and feel you are over priced or they can do it themselves. So in away, this is helping evryone but at the same time possibly hurting the small buisness man. Instead of paying one hundred dollars when you get " made " charge 50/50 before you are allowed in then after you make it. No one just searching out there will pay fifty bucks. I am not just thinking out load! I say do it!
I agree, 50 bucks is nothing compaired to the information that is on this site. I would pay to learn here. I don't like the idea of someone looking over my sholder while I trying to learn trade secrets.

There MAY be some changes coming ? I need to talk with my Dave - and get everyones feedback before we do ANYTHING. This is YOU Guys Roof Cleaning Forum.

I like the idea of closing the overall RCIA to splash and dashers and those looking to take all we have built and ultilize it without even a thank you?
I and am hearing all the pro's but what about the negative aspects of doing this? Do we know IF it Will it hurt our rankings?
Can we set up a landing page for customers so they can see our legitimacy, validity and certification WITHOUT exposing ALL our trade secrets and contractor pricing and bidding info?
Maybe you can have a public page for the customers to be able to see with links to the roof cleaners in their area. After all they are trying to find someone that can do this.
I agree, let them find a cleaner. But to just let anyone in here for free, and start a buisness competing with someone else on here without some type of initiation { fee } only hurts the rest of us. It's nice to be nice and help......but are we shooting our selves in the foot?
I agree with this 100%. I think there should be a members only section, but still be a section where outsiders can see pics ect. I just want to thank the founders of this forum and all the supporters for sharing there knowledge. My brother (THE KID) ran across it when we were looking at that other roof "so called cleaning" junk out there. Then when we found this site we never looked back at them and changed our approuch to cleaning roofs to the RIGHT way, so thank you!!!!!! Dan! Roof Cleaning Branson
The top dawgs in roof cleaning are on this site and its # 1 on any thing to do with roof cleaning. its already validated and now needs some exclusivity. Everyone should pay a registration fee minimum 20 bucs if not more. No fee within 30 days of new change and your registration is deleted. That will weed out the lurkers taking without giving. Also the rcia should have one page or site seperate for customers. A good example is the cedar shake berau for wood roofs. Rcia should be the national authority on roof cleaning. we as a whole know enough people in the industry from the suppliers to the chemists all the people associated with industrial and roof cleaning to add to the validity of the rcia. It should not be hard to make this happen at all. as i said there are over 300 people registered even at 20 a pop that is more than enough to even pay someone to set up and maintain these sites I am talking about and give out proper online test with time limits atttached to them so you complete or fail. also with an online credit terminal wich by the way is extremely cheap, you can set it up so that when they are ready for the test they must pay a test fee and also get a certificate at the end to display and also get requalified every couple years to ensure we are keeping up with the evolving of roof cleaning. It can be done and I am more than willing to help. This is a great thing that was started and can be hugh asset to this industry, but not acting quickly can also turn this in to another lame posting forum. Lets try not to make this happen as I think too much has been offered to this site through the founders and through the members, to let that happen.

Good And Valid Points...
We are discussing all you have mentioned and more.
I know I have gained alot of info from this site.I am more than thankfull for everyones help and the time that everyone has put in.I agree that a fee would be a great idea, because on the other hand you may be putting yourself out of work,by helping so many people out with all the info on this site.I know I would pay anything just to be a member.Just my thoughts on the idea.

I say the fee has to be enough to discourage outsiders. Anyone will buy somthing for 19.99, I say make it fifty dollars...thats enough to discourage fly by night companys. I also say close the forum as soon as possible to outsiders then give us a week or ten days to get the check in....or your out......
By the way...I have gotten about six calls over the last two weeks from people in other states asking me questions. i guess they feel I will tell them since they are not near me and I guess they are right. But the way the economy is as we start to advertise people will jump on here get what they can and go...with out really having to work for it. Vinny and I and a handful of other companys are out here.To tell you the truth I wouldn't want any others only because they will be low balling. Once we tighten up here atleast we will all be on the same page pricing wise.

DONE Deal ! MOST of the Forum is now Closed! I am TIRED of seeing 4 members on the Forum and 10 "GUESTS" These Lurkers are NOT all "bad people" but it is a give and take world. No longer will people be able to TAKE our knowledge and not participate. I MONITOR ALL users! IF I see someone aint posting/participating - BYE BYE
I'm glad its closed. I felt this way since I got in. { I was on the other site for a year or so and spoke to both you Chris and Mike } Now it will be real cleaners who are not just in it till things get better some where else. I am looking forward to " speaking " more freely on here, and I am eager to see where it goes next.
I have to admit if it was closed when I found it I might not have joined unless I could see that there was real info available to be had. I like the partially open and partially closed concept that is in place at the moment. How will we know if we are posting in a public or closed thread ??

The ONLY open forums are the certified roof cleaning state forums and the Roof Cleaning pictures forum. ALL others are closed and will probably stay that way. They are NOT "closed to search engines" just closed to anyone who has not registered for the forum.
