"What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hello to All My Fellow Roof Cleaning Brothers,
On this thread I am going to start posting REGULAR quotes from FAMOUS writers in order to inspire us all to be the best we can be.
I am going to start to post these terrific inspirational words for others to keep in mind.
Sometimes, when I read a quote from a great author or achiever who has jotted down some nugget of wisdom a century or two ago but that I read for the first time, I get a profound sense of well being, particularly when the message is right up my alley, in terms of, what I am experiencing at that moment or in a particular situation.
Powerful, Inspirational Messages are, IMHO, ARE terrific confidence builders.
They help me remember that, it is sometimes,
"Darkest BEFORE the Dawn"
As small business owners we need to
"Keep putting our BEST foot FORWARD".
One of the best ways to do this is getting into a regular habit of uploading into our mind, motivational, encouraging, inspirational messages so that we keep the fire LIT that burns bright inside our entrepreneurial hearts.
For me, an inspirational message can hit the spot that says keep on going when my get up and go, has got up and LEFT
My sincere hope is that some of these messages will help you all through the times when work is scarce, phones are silent and hope is lessened so that you can get thru the moments of temporary despair or setbacks and move on to brighter days.
Cheers!
Dave W.

This will be a great THREAD. The definition of an optimist is a man that goes out in a rowboat looking for Moby Dick with a jar of tarter sauce in his hand. Be an Optimist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why hesitate? Upon the plains of hesitation are the bleached bones of countless millions who, on the threshold of victory, sat down to wait and in waiting they died. -Unknown
I go for these 8 steps to success: A very wise man tought them to me and he is very rich now 1-Be on time (not on time and the first 3 steps are screwed for the rest of the day) 2-Be prepared (If you have to leave or screw up this step can be your end) 3-Have a great attitude all day (negetave thought impead judgement and miss opportunities) 4-Work a full day (or go home and hang with your unemployed friends and see what that gets you) 5-Work correctly (a system makes for better prodution as opposed to randomness) 6-Hit the next sales call on a sale (instead of taking a break or celebrating a sale) (you are most exighted and postivelly influentual when you make a sale so call the next one or hit the next door instead of smoking a ciggarette or calling your wife) 7-Show your merch/service (pictures are worth a lot of talking and so is a demo) 8-Rehash Rehash Rehash (sell more on top of a sale to the same sale)
Pretty much any day that fails for you can be attributed to not following one of these 8 steps.
5 steps to a sale: Intro (hi, i am...) Story (I clean roofs safley and effectivley) Demo (here is a pic, let me show you on your roof) Close (schedule the job/collect deposit) rehash (by the way we do this too..)
I also smile and nod alot. In turn I find people I am talking to mimicking this, try it in the morning at your first sales call. Before you go to the door shake it off and start nodding and smiling. It will make you feel loose and giddy. If you continue to smile and nod all day the world will return the favor every time. I also wave alot.
