Alright alot of people want to know the secret to cleaning in cold temps. here it is... we have to clean these fast food restraunts with asphalt shingles at night. on average the temps at night here during the cold season is between 25-40 so heres the trick. first we up the mix about 10 percent. i know some are thinking thats over kill on sh right? wrong cause we are not saturating the roof till point of liquid running so your relly using less gallons. we switch to a mist nozzle during the cold. you can mist the roof to the point of glissening saturation. now you have to wait somtimes 20-30 minutes. after that dont rinse yet! you will definetly have to touch up spots. but while you have to wait anyways to do the new areas your old area is still sitting for the 30 minutes plus the new time for the new spot. after wards switch back nozzels rinse the crap out of it. walla your roof is clean . the key is the misting it takes longer but hey we're only talking maybe an hour or hour and half. but you get to clean all winter long. assuming theres no snow or ice on the roof. we did a few with just a little snow but that can easily be rinsed away and since now your roof is soaked you should up it another 5 percent or so. the water on the roof already will drop your ratio back. Hope this helps. ohh yeah wear warm clothes under a water proof gettup or youll be hating life that day!
The technique you're using is what any seasoned roof cleaner would do if they were bound to clean in freezing temperatures, using a higher concentration in cooler weather is no secret. But why not just do it when the weather is warm? Working in the cold is a pain, hoses are stiff, any water may freeze and slick up sidewalks,..I just don't get it. I could maybe even see 50 with the benefit of sunshine, but 25 is too cold for me personally, and I believe most others to mess with. I and my customers are content on waiting when the weather is more suitable. Also, your misting application is going to fall short on an unwalkable roof.

I gotta say that does sound way to cold to be spraying anything but a fire. You mentioned to " Rinse the hell " out of it..why?Do you also rinse in warm weather?
wow your thinking in the ways of business just according to this post and the one you wrote about price matching. are rediculous. Thinking like that will get you nothing but a hobbie. why are you even in this business? the goal is to sell and grow your business. my god! good, don't clean when its cold we will set someone up in your neighborhood that will do it. jeezz. and as far as hoses we have enclosed trailers. we cover everything in the winter to include pipe insultion like you would see on plumbing for water heaters. simple stuff!! Any seasoned guy would know huh? well then why are certified roof cleaners asking me about this? do me a favor and ignore any tip we post you definetly are the pro and don't need us. ohh what are you on 6 roofs lined up? exactly!! clean them now line up more!
p.s. your not misting it like a fog machine. the tip sprays about 3-4' wide and with the right equipment ie. harness roof shoes lifts etc. it doesn't matter if its walkable. you can also set up ladders on roof making it even easier but you knew that seasoned rioa poster i mean roof cleaner!
keep in mind i gave you an average 25-40 granted not all the roofs are probably done in 25 degree weather, point is we clean regularly during cold weather. even at 30 degrees the roof is not going to turn to ice before your done. our weather is crazy here one day 75 and were out fishing the next day 42 for a high. also, no we do not use hot water heater. our trailers are enclosed and are almost like an office on wheels with tool chest replacement parts and ladders all inside. totally different than a rig on an open trailer out in the elements. Also we don't bother with all these high dollar pumps. its to many headaches. 2 hypro rollers and repair kits make everything simple and neat. one down every 2-3 month or so, run the other replace the guts to the down one and just do over again as far as a hypro freezing theres not that much that can happen you can even take the belt off and crank slowly back and forth if there was any ice in there. we can get the 6500xl's all day at 85 bucks if we need them and we can clean just as many roofs just as fast, as a udor or other high priced set up. but thats us. when i was in the marines the saying was keep it simple stupid! thats what i try to do.

I am not gonna get into a typing match with "mescalara" He's plainly looking to rock the board. I have no interest in anything he has to offer. And will not be replying to anything he has to say in the future.

Mike, he posted it because you continue with the negative, defensive attitude. There's no place for that here. Please be more positive and receptive to questions, and stop being so defensive when you are questioned.
