I can see how valuable this forum is but I`m a see to catch on person. I would be willing to work cleaning roofs for free for a week if some one is willing to help me. It would be great if it was close to Bowling Green KY. or I could fly somewhere. I`m very serious because the economic situation has stunted my janitorial business.
If and Until you get the good fortune of someone aprenticing you in their operational roof cleaning business, keep reading all the many posts here and on other boards and become a SPONGE. You will get this as it is not rocket science but there is Actually some science and chemistry and engineering wrapped up into getting a business in Roof Cleaning of the ground.
You will figure out a great many things just by reading.
I am sure many would be very GLAD to have the extra help for a week and I may even take you up on your offer, however, for liability and insurance reasons it will be difficult to do, as for most people without setting you up as an employee it would have most walking on thin ice.
It would prove difficult to do without putting their livelyhoods at risk if you became injured or a property was harmed.
Unless someone can hire you as a sub or if you were interested in a franchise model like that of roof-i-cide's business model this probably won't work. However, having said that it may be that if an attorney wrote up something and you were to sign an agreement that they will not be held liable for any slip and fall or other act accidental or otherwise that could possibly occur in during your training, it may work for the rifght company.
I have some ideas on this topic.
If you would like to call me we can discuss it more one on one.
Here is a couple of guys near you, who you can call and ask if they will let you at least watch.
I've met Mike Kreisle, owner of firstchoicepowerwashing. He's very good and has a lot of experience.
I don't know the guy in Nashville, but from checking out his website, I can tell he knows what he is doing. The first thing I look for is ARMA approved chemicals. He uses the right chemicals, and bags downspouts.
Ask Larry, he might be interested as you are not in his backyard and he is very knowledgeable in all aspects of cleaning and has a lot of experience.
PM Larry M. and talk to him about it.
