Glad to see that the certification has begun, that will be great for all of us and lend credibility to our industry.
Thanks Chris.

I have been waiting a while to see how this certification would work. I am happy to have the details and will be posting when I have relavent questions or contributions. I am definitely a newby, so the designation doesn't bother me. I have done 27 roofs and still have alot to learn. It might take me a while to get to the required 100 posts, but I will get there.
Im pretty pumped about actually being able to be certified, I have a long way to go to get 100 posts but Im going to work on it. HOPE to be the first certified Ohio roof cleaner I have a feeling there is going to be ALOT of posting in the coming weeks :)

Yes, there IS gonna be a lot of posting, lol. Don't forget the verbal roof cleaning testing either ? That will be no problem for any roof cleaner who know what he is doing. It is still january, plenty of time to be certified for the season !
Your basing roof certification on how many posts someone makes?
I understand wanting to increase traffic on the BBS and all but I don't understand why guys that have been cleaning roofs for years are going to be considered "in training" due to the amount of posts they make.
Why not just send out written tests to those that request them?
What makes any company here more qualified than another to certify them?
For me personally this way will benefit me the most because it gets all of the roof cleaners that have been in the business for years to get into the conversations and give us new guys the information that we need to have a successful business and for the guys who have been cleaning roofs for years it helps because the new guys won't give roof cleaners a bad name, because of the information we get here will make sure we clean the roofs the right way.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post Henry. I have been very busy. Number one, "increasing traffic" to the Forum is the LEAST of my "worries". This roof cleaning forum is currently number 4 Google for a roof cleaning search. Most of the posts on this roof cleaning forum are mine. Because my website is so highly ranked for a roof cleaning search, I bring my ranking to THIS forum. More posts are NOT the objective, learning about roof cleaning is. W/O revealing what the verbal test will be, let me just say that we at the RCIA feel that 100 posts about roof cleaning, combined with experience verified by our roof cleaning instructors, and a verbal test, will be enough to grant certifications. NO system is "perfect" Henry. A written test can easily be copied, and the answers made known. Harder to do with a verbal test.
Every school has it's own methods, and these are ours. A Bachelors degree at Harvard will not get you a Masters degree at Yale. This is our program for Roof Cleaning Certification, and it will be the same for everybody seeking the RCIA Seal of approval.
As far a "who is qualified to issue certifications" I am. No one has has taught more roof cleaners to clean roofs for as many years as I have.
Can you give and hints on what the verbal test is like? 5 min? 10 min? half hour? topics?
W/O giving the verbal roof cleaning test away, it should be NO problem for anyone who knows what they are doing. References of a few roofs you have cleaned WILL be required, backed up by before and after pictures. IF you FAIL the test, it can be retaken again in 30 days. The RCIA is here to help, not hurt you. But we insist on you having a good working knowledge of roof cleaning. Or our Roof Cleaning Certification would be meaningless.
I suppose I for one will never hold a coveted RCIA certificate, mainly because usually after a hard day at work i dont have time to sit and write on a message board, while i have found this and other forums very helpful in the knowledge for me to conduct my business, I was taught as a child that i couldn't learn anything as long as my lips were flapping, so i read, i research, and i do quality work, and if you would like to know if i know what i am doing, ask, i would like to thik so, do i know everthing, NO, i am still picking up tricks and shortcuts everytime i go to work, and hope i can continue to do so!
Chris i referred a customer to you in reddick, fl,, i know a little out of your area, but i told her you would know someone in her area if you didnt come up this far. I passed the job to you because of the size of the job, and customer satisfaction is my HIGHEST priorty, i would rather pass a job to another contractor than do an inferior job or damage a home.

Thanks for your forum, Jerry Florida PowerClean
Thanks for the roof cleaning referral Jerry! You would not believe how easy it is to get to 100 posts. One post a day for 90 days, and you are there! You need to get you a web site, and put it in your signature.
I have never been certified by anything that didn't require time and money. chris has been gracious enough to make the money optional. as far as the time do it for us new guys. with your help and guidance we might even accidentally come up with something new. by the way has anyone ever got paid to wash headstones they always look dirty? There can be INSANE money to be made cleaning roofs. Trust me when I say this. I have been doing Roof Cleaning In Tampa for a long time. I have had so many Thousand Dollar Days cleaning roofs I can't honestly remember them all. I do not just do roof cleaning for the Money. I absolutely LOVE it. Back when I started cleaning roofs in Tampa, it was lonely. Non Pressure Roof Cleaning was a black art, known only to a few, and they weren't talking. So, a long time ago, I decided to TEACH others how to clean roofs, so I would have some company. Sure, I taught most of my local competitors here in Tampa, as well as others across the USA. Now, I have LOTS of fellow roof cleaning friends to talk shop with. Actually, some of my "students" have taught ME stuff ! And, this is good. One day, the students here will be the roof cleaning teachers, and will know the satisfaction I know from teaching someone to feed his family. Money can't buy that
My appologies if my first post seemed a little snarky (is that really a word and if so what does it mean) It really has been a tough few months but thats another story, i was kinda curious though if you ever got the call about the house in reddick, and as soon as finances get a little better i will be working on a website, i really do appreciate the forum it has been a big help

Hey, we are all pretty laid back around here. There has not been any arguments on this forum I can remember. We sometimes disagree, without being disagreeable. You will find the folks here serious about roof cleaning. We are not here to fight, we go to Bars to do that I do not recall the customer you speak of calling us. I would go to www.webspawner.com to get a free website. www.Weebly.com is nicer, but a little harder to make. My roof cleaning website is a webspawner one. It is not free, but only 60 dollars a YEAR ! You can start out free, then pay when you can afford it. You MUST be on the Internet IMHO to make it in roof cleaning. How are people going to know about you otherwise, unless you knock doors till your knuckles bleed ?

Chris, I am very Grateful for this site, other wise I know I would be fighting this industry by trying to learn it on my own. Coming here has just simplified it by 100%. All though I find it quite difficult to ask questions when so far everything I want to know or questions I need answered I find by the search . So I Ask myself, will I ever get to the 100 post. More than likely I will, just like everything else I do in life, I want to earn it.. not just get for the having. I feel most my concerns are going to be in the marketiing area just because I know if you dont have a " plan, marketing ,cashflow and leadership" it really does not matter what the product is. Many of companies fail just because they have don`t have these or those essentials even though their product is good. I Also work my A** off, it all comes down to" What I WANT", so coming to the boards after a hard days work is really simple even though I do prefer coming here early morning before a hard day on the battelfield Soo, for all that said , Much GRADITUIDE.. "Clean on my Friend"
