We just bought a Canon A 590S Digital camera. A search on Google revealed this to be the top rated digital camera, for the money. We learned the hard way that Megapixtels are NOT an indicator of a Camera's quality. The LENS is everything. The Samsung camera we had took a crap, but we were NOT happy with it's performance. TOO many pictures came out dark. We will be testing the Canon Powershot A 590S out in the coming weeks. We all need to talk about our Camera's, and see what is best for taking roof cleaning pictures. The Canon is to be had at Wal Mart for 125.00 !! The reviews of it say it is the best camera for the most people, for the money. So far, just fooling around, pics are FAR better then the cheap Samsung we bought at Radio Shack in Tampa. Please share your experiences with what Camera's you have used.
I have a Sony DSC-P41 that I really like. I also think that using the settings in accordance to conditions or light or whatever would make a difference, but I tend to just leave those settings alone. They're pre-loaded setting works for me. Just not a camera buff I guess, although I do enjoy taking pictures. I also like the video feature it has, also with sound. I sometimes use my cell camera in a pinch. Not to bad really.
There IS a difference in Digital Camera's. Yes, if you spend 3 to 400 dollars, you can be pretty sure of getting a good one. I think it should be possible to take good roof cleaning pictures for around 150.00 I can afford more, but we are rough on cameras, and sometimes even LOSE them.
The Digital camera I use for all my Roof Cleaning pictures is a sony dsc-s700 7.2 mega pixel. I got it 2 yrs ago as a Christmas present. It has a ton of settings on it but as Jeff was saying, leaving it on auto seems to work pretty well most all of the time. I also like the movie setting with sound but don't use it all that much. All in all for the money I think it is very user friendly and takes great Roof Cleaning pictures. Ya gotta have a camera that takes great pics especially for advertising. Pays for itself very quickly.

That turns out to be the best money you ever spent Larry!
Chris, what are the megapixels and optical zoom on your camera?
How long have you been using that camera?
I would like something under $250.00 that will take good pictures with someone like me that does not know much about cameras or picture taking. hahaha

Chris, have you been posting pictures taken with that camera yet? If so, which ones?
That is a good price.
Thanks.

That is a good zoom Larry, Mine is a 3x or 4x optical and it will not do that good.

He guys this is a really old thread but what are yall using for cameras by now? Getting ready to go out and buy a new one for this season. I'm thinking somthing a littler bigger and set it on a tripod and do time delay like every 10 mins take a shot. Would get you awsome pix for a video. Lets hear it!!

I've been using my Droid incredible for the past year. I was using an average digital camera before that, but would get to the job and realize I left it sitting next to the computer at home 50% of the time. Or I would be on the roof spraying and see a good shot, but the camera would be in the truck. The Droid is on my side all the time, so I never miss a shot.
I do think a nice camera with a timer or a video camera on a tripod would make an awesome time lapsed video/slideshow.
My kids use Sprint Evo's and pic quality is acceptable, most of the time. Taking before and after roof cleaning pics is weird. The ones you THINK will come out great sometimes do not, and ones you think are not great shots sometimes turn out great. If u watch Models taking pictures, they snap hundreds of shots, to get 5 good ones. I have bought state of the art digital cameras, my kids lose them, but they always have their smart phones! You can always digitally touch the pics up, but u got to take them first! Experience has shown they do not lose smart phones, and always have them for pictures.
